Ogmore by Sea, the Castle: Sleeping Beauty

In Smoke: Sleeping Beauty & Her Castle

It was such a pleasure working with Charlie and we finally got the shot done. Despite the fact that we had to re-arranged this shoot three times, due to poor weather and what not and then there was the huge delay of the photos being finished on my part due to some personal issues.
This shoot gave me plenty to work with and I felt my creative juices flowing as I was editing them, I indulged in colours and dynamic effects.I love masks, I bought my first mask when I was in Venice and instantly fell in love with the idea of them so I began collecting them ^.^ I used blue and white pallets, though originally we were under the impression that it was black and not blue, I think it was a nice surprise to be fair.

Location: Ogmore Castle, Wales.
Assistant: Bahram B.
Model: Charline Rance
Dress: by independant designer in CPH, unique clothings
Acessories: Claire's & independant shops
Mask & Black Rose: JokeShop
Lace: John Lewis

PhotoTipTricks

If you're doing a shoot involving smoke pallets, it's a good thing to plan out the poses beforehand, have the model already in pose 1 when beginning to light the pallet. There are various types of smoke pallets and some last longer, though a minute or three still feels like just a few seconds when you're 'in the moment'. Always place the pallets slightly in the background so you have more visibility and place it a bit away from the model, of course test the wind's direction before lighting it as well. They are incredibly smelly so make sure you don't get it on your stuff and they transfer color easily as well. Make sure that the model understands that she only has limited time when the pallet is lit. Also, it is good to have an assistant in such a shoot so help maintain the smoke. I had mine hold the reflector and when necessary use it to direct the smoke away or up to clear visibility and create some interesting patterns. Though, be considerate of the model, don't blow the smoke in her face ;)

I have already had another shoot with smoke pallets again, this time with the color red and white so that's on the menu too- I'm having another  shoot with hopefully black smoke or purple, we shall see, stay tuned..

Photoshopt tutorial recording

I have had many ask me about how i edit my photos so I will make a blog post on that with a ps video tutorial showing how i use ps and what I do :)

Castle Horses: Running Free

After the shoot with Charlie Rance we had some beer & crisps while enjoying the scenery. It was such a relaxing end to the day and I took a few snapshots of the horses running freely across the river.
