Impromptu Studio Shoot: Beauty and Emotive Portraiture.

Prelude

It's January of 2012 and all I want is hope, dreams, travels and colours & patterns.
This passing year has really taught me what matters the most, unveiled how superficial the world really is and as difficult it has been and still is, I have truly discovered what is real and what is not.
I have had too many obstacles preventing me from achieving my aspirations but I have also learned that in the end these obstacles only challenge me further on though it certainly prolongs the journey
My dreams may have been lulled to sleep because of the harsh year I have had to endure but this year is a new chance for me and I need to take that chance.

1st Take.

I kindly borrowed my parent's living room for this shoot. Originally, I was to have a shoot with Mei only to try out my flash at home but then Marlin came onboard as well ^.^ so it was quite an improvised day for me and we just decided to have fun with it.  I definately want to do a proper beauty shoot and try my hand at that very soon.
On a different note, I am nearly finished with my ridicously long red cape, it's lavished with lace and ribbons, maybe I'll finish it in time for my next post :)

Behind The Scenes Video

Starring Marlin, Mei & Moi, the photographer.

A quick video of just before we get started with the shoot, so I'm just testing the light and angles.

PhotoTipTricks

I used Canon 580ex ii bounced on the ceilling and wall & bouncing light on the reflector to add a spark in the eyes. As you can see, I kept the black table there to diffuse the light that would bounce back down from the ceilling so I have more control of where it would then illuminate. The video reveals quite a bit of how I work. I use the light that is available to me and it's good to experiment so you understand how 'light' can be so versatile and tricky at times. It's a good skill for when you have to be resourceful.
